The Social Kitchen
The Social Kitchen is a community of food lovers and an exciting interactive cooking program for young people with Autism or that are a part of our Neurodivergent community.
This 10 week program will consist of one session per week running during the school term.
The Social Kitchen aims to incorporate an appreciation for healthy food, cooking and socialising, to achieve confidence and independence in the kitchen and beyond.
Participants will work to plan, shop, prepare, cook, tidy and then most importantly enjoy their hard work with a shared meal.
Skills:
Grocery budgeting, shopping and pre-shop preparation (recipe reading and list writing)
Preparation of kitchen (safety & hygiene)
Food preparation
Cooking – e.g frying, steaming, boiling
Plating food and table setting
Post cook clean up
Understanding of healthy food choices
